White Rock Parking - Never say another bad word!!!

I was just wrapping up an afternoon of photography, taking advantage of the wonderful afternoon and ample parking available due to the Stanley Cup hockey final.

As I was returning to my car two, not one, Parking Officers were scouring the parking lot west of the Museum... my "little guy" obscured by a van....
A stepped up towards the unknown when one of them asked me if the car was mine... One handsome young man I thought - when the other one came into sight!
Hmmmm, White Rock stepping up the Public Relations with these two hunks?

OK, never mind "the hunks", serious business at hand, why is one of them ready to ticket me?

I got a parking sticker.

- No, you don't.

Yes, I do... got the sticker on my windshield - there!

- No... this is an orange sticker, you need a yellow one.

The yellow one is last year's, this year's it's orange.

- No, it is yellow, you got a Centennial sticker...

What (the hell) is a Centenial sticker?

- For the Centennial Arena, you can park there... you need to pay to park here.

(Why would I need to pay here?) Why would I need a sticker for Centennial? What's Centennial? OH! I only go there to get the sticker! This is the one for this year...

- No, look what it says... Didn't you read it?

Why would I read it? It is the sticker they gave me when I asked for one.

- He reads it aloud for me while I watch in dis-be-lief!

(I got a blooming Arena parking sticker!!!???) That's why I only paid $15.00 for it, I assumed they came to their senses and began prorating it...
It also explains why they did not asked me for proof or residence.... hmmmmm

I look at "the hunk" and smile as blond as I can (well... there's no denying!) I think he got "it" before I even tried! I am offfffff here, so offffffffff that I confess and, tell him (them) I have been parking all over the city for a couple for months now.... (I think I perceive a bulging smile, but he continues with a stern face.) (Not a parking ticket pleeeeeease!).

His energy was good throughout the entire interaction, while I think he was in as much disbelief as I was (so must have been the second officer, spotted hunk number one, as I felt him standing nearby, behind me).
I was let off - this time - with, a verbal "warning" / strong recommendation get sticker changed.

After this experience, my experience, I will never ever allow anyone to say anything bad about our darling parking officers - no more "parking nazis" references will be allowed!!!

So, what am going to do?!

I did not attend the candidate nominating meeting, somehow that Sunday evening meeting around the corner just flew out of my head, therefore, I almost feel guilty to utter an opinion! Then, I read in the paper who got nominated (OMG!) and elected (OOOHMG!!!) will not say his name....

Here I am a card holding Liberal. A die hard Liberal. One, that has been asked to run for MP many years ago, when we were in office... when we were still a respected bunch (if not for Alberta!)... Now, facing a crucial election with a wonderfully worldly, charming intellectual as Mr Ignatieff at the helm and, a White Rock-South Surrey candidate, none of which I feel could/would hold the job.
One, because does not know how to be a leader/is not a leader - one is born into that sort of thing... (Or, bluffs or bullies his way into it, as Harper did.)
The other, well... from personal experience in a committee/public setting (I had to remove myself from due to his unacceptable behavior) I concluded - he - was a barbarian.
Most certainly, not the one to represent me - or anyone else - god forbid!

So, to add further distress to the ongoing dilemma is this... when I volunteer on voting day at the polling station, do I kill myself first?

In a less than adequate City Council:

ignorance is proportional to the lack of leadership,

and common "contemporary" sense.

It is further disturbing to find that bullying has taken another turn... now, slashing tires! How sick and sad an example to show our youth.
But, then... why am I even surprised about such thing!
These sick bastards feed on each other and believe they are powerful...
There must be some sane people also in this city and I hope they speak up at the next elections.

So, they call it "View preservation" Enhancement?
What are they thinking, I ask again, after having a conversation with rightful owner of the property which these particular tress happen to be living.

Are they thinking greedily - more money/more taxes if developers buy out these properties and do away with them? The property immediate increases its value by $200.000 'coz it has an "enhanced" view!!!

I am not sure I could have had the fortitude to fight two councils for a period of 8 years as the Karen and Doug Ellerbik have - not to mention, Karen tells me, they are not even being extended the minimum courtesy to be heard in chamber!

How would you feel if someone was bullying you for 8 years to do away with trees on your property that you love and believe in?

Let's save the trees form Council's bullying.

It is with a bit of sad humor that I dwell into this topic, as I find the contemporary male-female interactive scenario in practically shambles; at a time when relationships have decidedly taken a turn for the absurd in so far as to the expectations of the genders.

Never before, at least not in the last century - no matter how dysfunctional we may think the the past to be - have man, generally speaking, been so overtly aggressive, vulgar and overall undesirable to women, yet full of irrational expectations and, demands!

All the good people apparently have moved to Surrey and are moving the city forward with incredible efficiency and heart.
Now, where are our power women?

I love tress, and since I moved to White Rock I have witnessed in despair the systematic damaging, mutilation and elimination of trees - this disregard for nature, is reflected in most everything that goes down in this town.

Wolves: what people still do to them in the name of "Conservation" or, whatever!

I have had the opportunity to live close to a situation where a wolf cub was taken form the pack to be raised as a "dog".

It was very eerie to hear this unusual cry, not quiet that off a dog, not quiet that of a baby... where did it come from? Who, what, could make those heart breaking sounds/cries... for hours?
Very perturbing indeed.
A good couple of months went by until the source was located.... the conditions this scared and scrawny animal was in, was devastating to find.
Tied at the end of a heavy chain, with a padlock on its thick leather collar weighing him down. Only a narrow corridor between junk was his daily life.

The S.P.C.A was called.
The local Animal Control was repeatedly called, followed up...
Well, the animal had water and it was "legally tethered" - nothing could be done by either one.

The young wolf was growing and getting accustomed to a faint whistle indicating a friend coming by but, he could still be heard crying for hours on end! Although a dog was brought into the yard, nothing changed.
In all this time, despite claims to the contrary, this wolf, kept as a rabid dog, was never seen walking outside his tight surroundings.
Summer came, hot days - no water. They were given water by their friend; filling their empty bowl by sneaking into the compound.
Eight months went by... no change for the wolf. No help either.
Nothing could be done!? Nothing!?
Maybe...

There are animal rescue organizations that truly look for the welfare of the animal - regardless of the exiting "norm" and, outdated regulations/laws.
A couple were contacted. One offered to help.
A plan of action was devised. It would take some time. The companion dog could not "bark" with the approaching of "strangers".
Fortunately wolves are extremely clever pack animals and learn fast, instinctively I'd say, and as he got on "with the program" without even a faint whistle, so did his companion, the chubby dog with the smiling face.
So the program was unfolding faster than anticipated.

One evening the call came in. A volunteer would be around about 10:00PM to rescue/remove the wolf and take him to a home, 500 km away, in the country, to be with another mature female, also a "domesticated" rescue.
A risky "operation" for all practical purposes.

The volunteer went by the compound and the racket those two made could be heard at quiet a distance, reverberating and bouncing sound of the taller buildings in the neighborhood...
The volunteer could not get anywhere near them, just observe from half a block away...
Now, what?
This rescue operation had to be done that same night or there was no knowing when it could be arranged next.

After a little while, with inexperience in this matters, and enormous trepidation, the wolf's friend approached in the usual quiet manner, by now it was almost unnecessary to even signal but, one thing was "being friends" across the fence, an another was actually touching, freeing the wolf from his predicament.
The approach was swifter than anticipated, reaching over the thorny blackberry bushes, at the lowest point of the fence the two met up. Hand reached over, grabbed collar - padlock on (!) - but, somehow the padlock remained with the chain. (?)
The young wolf was free! It took only a second coaxing and a little pull for him to jump the fence and run around the corner of the alley to the waiting volunteer and his van. As "rehearsed", not a peep out of either animal. Wolf and friend reached the van.
Both volunteer and friend realized at the same time the wolf had never been in a vehicle of any kind.
Jumping to the back seat and coaxing did wonders as he reluctantly followed. Extraordinary! He was "glued" to the friend! (Friend was shaking and crying of joy. Disbelieving to actually have become the rescuer.)
There was no way this trust could be so soon broken, the wolf had to feel safe!
Quick thinking! Drive into the parking lot and, hope, really hope, that he will be quiet until a quick change of clothing and a bite before the trip... he did remarkably well, although it was obvious he was scared.
It did not take long for him to squeeze his furry self over the lap of the friend. half in the front half over the gearshift box... He stayed there, like that, the entire trip. The friend held on to him, moved, the entire trip, except for the two road breaks in the middle of the night. One for coffee and another for the three of them. He stayed close, not quiet pulling the leash.

The "contingent" arrived to their destination at 7:00AM.
All pout of the van, the mature female wolf came to greet him. Peaceful encounter, acceptance. Very moving. Tears flowed...
At the back of the property he run free for the first time in his life... he got into "recognizance" mode.
The mature wolf's "family/pack" became his.
Volunteer and now, lifetime friend, quietly left - a long, peace-filled drive home was awaiting after breakfast, with the understanding of having done the right thing.

PS.: There are Rescue Organizations and there are others that call themselves so, such as the one in the link... It took one quick look to see, assess, understand. I am horrified that these wonderful, sensitive animals are treated no better than circus bears some years back. It is unacceptable! In the name of "conservation", my foot!
There is absolutely no need to do what these misinformed people are doing. What surprises me is that animal loving Brits are buying into this abuse.

When we interact with each other, family as well as strangers, language - about the only thing that we think separates us, from animals - gets in the way...

Use or, disuse/misuse/manipulation of it, immediate transports us to a surreal place where the sounds that normally would clear the way, actually fog-up the panorama, and set the stage for unequal footing.

Some English modisms, such us “I don’t want to impose on you” which, sound clear enough to be understood as not wanting to be a bother... actually, is often used as a substitute for “I want to get the hell out of here and it is easier to use you and the situation as an excuse, while I appear to be a sensible and considerate guest - and you, an intolerant fool!

Yes, yes... no two ways about it. The farce has began!

A farce yes, but not a comedy.

So, the lie/farce may be played by one or (often) by both parties.

The inhuman relations occur, with the former as the interaction moves forward in two distinct directions - only to arrive to a sudden, unexpected, chaotic disruption.

As in an animated conversation of two deaf individuals, each convincingly pursuing their own agenda as if comprehended by the other.

The situation gets reality interesting when, the one party that made the false statement is “trapped” by the hospitality and good will of the host/hostess and desperately, hastily must exit to carry out their own personal, private agenda, and chooses to further muck-it-all-up by continuing to “build” on the false statement.

Once the “inhuman relations” cease and the fog dissipates, one can clearly see “the farce” and be knowledgeable not to be in the same spot ever again.

Moral of the story, for human relations: Mean what you say. Say what you mean. Walk the talk!

A man, any man (a, person like you and me) sets up a website to share with us all around the world information that it is "kept" from us ... As such we, cannot make proper/adequate decisions about just anything.
Why?
Because, while the intentions may not be sinister, are mostly based in outdated concepts and, as this has never changed since the dawn of civilization, it only serves the interests of a precious minority/few.

That does not benefit us personally nor, does it benefit society as a whole, wich, at this point in time, is finding itself in a seriously desperate global financial, as well as intellectual and emotional, highly charged state of affairs.
This has come to fruition as a result of a number of things, among them, the lack of proper information and/or its substitution for the now common "spin". The safe-keepinf of the satatus quo and other minor and major interests. As a result, a great number of the north american population is getting even a greater distortion of our reality as it is regurgitated by some insanely ignorant and word power drunks that have managed to captivate a hungry audience with their sugar coated venom.
These are the ones that call themselves "patriotic" and scoff and scorn anyone sane enough to be able to see the difference...
How sad it is to observe the slow demise of a nation, through the acts of a handful of public figures, wolves dressed in sheep's clothing...

It is these people that ought to be charged with treason... OK, at the very least with malicious public mischief, if we don't want to get overly dramatic and, in the name of freedom of speech.
While I believe they have the right to think and say what they want, they do not have the right soil and prejudice others, let alone those that have actually have something to contribute.
We all know that desperate times drives us to desperate measures.

Rape allegation aside (as tremendously serious as they could potentially be), Jason Assange is a daring man. And, I believe that we can only come out of the current chaos with a huge reality doses, and among those leaks is, what really, truly is going on in the international scene - behind the scene!

Those of us that are alert, either rationally "suspect" (or the gut feelings don't let us sleep) of all we are hearing now.
Don't tell me any of these "leaks" are "news" to anyone!!!???
What they are, is a confirmation, they are the dotting of the i's and the crossing of the t's.

So, I ask... why such accusations of terrorism? Why calls for assassination?
We be better served as a society, if we ask why accusations of terrorism, calls for assassination... suggestion of "hunting him down".

Lately, I often wonder, when I venture forth with excitement to meet the immediate world around me, with an open heart and mind, what kind of twisted mentality lurks around in it that, instead of finding the same, I find an obtrusive wall. Not just a plain wall, but one full of rut and dark putrid corners, harboring, emitting venomous fumes; the kind that are completely colorless and odorless - the sort that brings on the urge to flee with overwhelmingly nausea, in total bewilderment.
This has been the consistent feeling/understanding for the past three years in anything relating to the Arts Community.
There is no consolation in finding more and more individuals with the same experience...
I am sick and tired of all this being the acceptable norm!

After almost 30 years of community involvement in various capacities through work and volunteering, dealing with hundreds and hundreds of people thoroughout, I have never, ever, encountered even a brief period of time when this kind of indecency ran rampant.

Of course, where there are people, there are opinions, differences, conflicts, friendships, love affairs. Life happens, tumbles, revolves, evolves, everybody moves forward/sideways, one way or the other, willingly or grudgingly - giving/leaving room for one another to breathe...
NOT HERE.
This is absolutely unacceptable.

PS.:Commercial galleries are completely excluded from from these shenanigans (I think!)
Among these lowly behaviours: the "casual bullying" by mere silent presence, not acknowledging. No eye contact, not even accidentally, to allow a nod... But there, showing up/showing "strong", brushing "accidentally against" me, yet remaining "in contact" in an empty room - while I am busy talking with a third party...
Walking up to me and with a full mouth, (full body) two inches from your face "demanding" I respond to her insolent question/comment.
Removal of my Exhibit posters from secure indoor location.
Willful damage of my merchandise at gift shop.
Willful manipulation of my Terra Talisman labels to hide origin/authorship of piece, within the gallery showcase!
Use of 2-3 year blog name, for newly created artist website... (just like that!!!)
And, what is most insidious and disgusting of all, is the "backroom" malicious gossip that, at this point must be so out of hand that, people I have never seen nor crossed paths with, already have an opinion of me!

These aren't accidents. This is a systematic, calculated, malicious harassment that began in August 2007.
I already said this: I will not ask anyone for "permission" to do what I want and need to do.

Seriously, it never occurred to me that a simple thing like a sliced in half onion would cause such a stir among fb friends, and their friends... and....

So, I don't feel alone any more!!!

I used to think I was the only nut reveling in the beauty of a Spanish Onion while slicing it for salads or else. Not so!

As it happens, the onion, and other vegetables have a great lot of secret admirers.

What kind of bullshit is it?

It is getting worst and worst with the proliferation of uninspired untalented wanna-be's.

Not only serious art is being undermined by interior designers creating "art" pieces with rollers as if painting a wall.
Then, we have the "starving"...
Now, I get to learn about the "Cheap" ones - announcing proudly their "quick" wares for $200.00 (a blooming rip-off if you ask me, specially while suggesting to buy Art instead of cocaine - WOW!)
And, there are those that sell their "original art" jokes for $10 bucks.

SOMEBODY, tell them to get lost.
I'll do it myself.
GET LOST: petty thieves and criminals.

How is Art going to regain and maintain any credibility when these clowns are flogging their crap - passing it for art...
I am horrified and utterly disgusted, with both the so-called artist and the buyers that fancy themselves clever.

I will admit that reading the headline was motive for reflection...

The feeling is somewhat surreal at the moment - although, there have been "various moments" like that, of utter surprise, disbelief and, of secretly fearing there has been an awful mistake and the invitation email was meant for someone else...!

Perhaps, this is due to the local energy or life "contretemps" that have so often rained upon me.

One thing I know for sure, that without my work, life would hardly be bearable.

People were made to line up outside, on Seymour Street, to enter the store its Olympic shop - for "security reasons". Either The Bay had serious threats or, they are cashing in big time... They were actually limiting the number of shoppers in the olympic shop - while inconveniencing the rest of us!

While one could shoot a cannon anywhere else in the building... having us actually make an effort to enter the store - it is the most absurd situation, ever.

Fleeting moments of joy and/or accomplishment

I almost stopped blogging because I felt short of time and pressed by an ever-changing life that I happily embrace, as it brings renewed hope and excitement to a life that otherwise would be in an "official and expected" state of "decline". lol

Well, maybe some parts are!

I followed a good blogger friend to facebook - what a lovely and at the same time irritating nut-house, also went on to twittering, and other writer and artist "circles".

Some were totally insane. How insatiable the human ego/spirit may be!

I found myself in a "competition" and stayed in that mode for a while, as I am establishing and promoting myself as an artist, finding it difficult to step back and focus on what it IS really import for me.

Odd. My own "terra logic" passage.

None of the incursions are/were as satisfying as blogging, where in time, friendships develop and become lasting emotional connections.

I have not forgotten any of my blogger friends, none. Although some have "departed" from our socialization - goodness know why!? - still, they will never be forgotten.

However it is time for a change, the bad side of this recognition is that I do not know quiet what the next step is, and if I find it - how clear will it be? How will I proceed and be both happy with my choice/needs and at the same time be courteous and caring with my friends?

It all began with the kidnapping of

the "ailing" rooster and subsequent

from Mr. F's garden

aka our yard... our (private) back yard

F's was telling me just yesterday how unfortunate

it was that his critters were taken...

Frans has been missing the rooster for over a month,

the chicken just this Friday

With the looming deadlines I could not

get to work on this most desperate makeover

Although, I have done the research ...

I hope to hear soon about the surprising return

Police Reality - not a TV show!

It is increasingly obvious that the police we might like to rely on and feel save with, is disappointing us on a continuous basis.

Gee, when do the "good guys do the right thing" ?

"When do they win"?

And when are the rotten apples tossed out?

We still have not heard an acknowledgement for the killing of Robert Dziekanski - it took an outsider's testimony, in authority to assess publicly what we all suspect...

Also, in the news again, Woodstock - not good today - as it was confirmed that little Vicky was indeed murdered and a couple of arrests been made in connection with kidnapping and murder, other charges pending - neighbours!

I ask myself and shout out from this soapbox, what on earth are these people doing and when and how is negligent and/or criminal behaviour going to be properly addressed? When and How?

Its been a long day, having reached a turn-around point with the painting and yet, I cannot let go of these issues.

We have become way too "tolerant" of what should be intolerable and what we must demand accountability for.

Why are the RCMP officers still on the force payroll and why have they not been charged (with a litany long list of charges) and, why has not the Woodstock Police not listen to the parents of Vicky and treat her disappearance as an abduction from the get-go...???

It saddens me profoundly.

Feverishly Working Away

I have primed the canvases with tinted gesso a couple of times, sketched in design and can just feel how it was acquiring a life of its own.

This is - I believe - the secret of abstract works... allowing it to grown on its own, accompanying the surging feeling as "we"move along.

As it usually is, although, I had a pencil sketch things went on a different direction from the get-go.

That, added to the fact that from the great photographs received, only a few fall within my "requested guidelines". NOT a bad thing. BUT, a thing to take very much into consideration, as this in itself sort of derailed the original idea... derailment not a bad thing in this case either...

Go to go and put in a full day as deadline IS around the corner

I am sure this week some of us are far more preoccupied with another, larger myth than that of Billy Bob Thorton; yet I can't resist having a go at it.

I am having issues with the mash potato statement!

Canadians are like mash potatoes without gravy?

Oh, ma' man BB... Who says that is exiting? Gooey maybe, but exiting, character

defining? Nah!

Now, smooth, hot mashed potatoes with garlic or, loaded with rosemary... that, might be character defining.

As for you being "funny", or offended? tst-tst-tst... Difficult and ignorant is a better description. Stupid?

On our very own CBC? In a cozy interview with our delightful, daily companion Jian Ghomeshi? You, got yourself voted off Canadian Idol!

And, let me tell you about Canadians.

Jian Ghomeshi showed you what it is to a gentleman and, a host on his feet.

We, may appear to be bland. We, may even be bland - but, what you will not often see is this self-indulgent crap, many, south of the border, like to impose all over the world "just 'coz" on those who will take it.

Bottom line:

There is no way I would know how much money all this publicity would cost. Good or bad, publicity is publicity, especially, here in North America.

The Boxmasters Band is OK - like, mash potatoes with a tad of gravy.

Seen it/heard it on late night TV. The kind of pleasant stuff guys may play when they get together in the basement (with Billy Bob, if he brought his drums)

"Mod Billy": is a styles fusion with a distinguishable dash of Cajun - that's what I heard, whatever they may call it....

I much prefer mash potatoes without gravy. Unless, that's all there is...

Realities of everyday life

Life has definitely changed in these last couple of years and blogging has almost but been abandoned. I am coming full circle, as my time has been very ineffectively split between various Internet "communication" systems such as "Multiply", "facebook" and that other "My Space" situation... (as well as a 24/7 dedication/demand to the craft of my "Creative Expression".)

None have given the pleasure nor the friendships that I have encountered in these blogs. Friendships that transcend distances and cultures of which strength I am always in awe of...

Oddly, most of "those" facebook friends are rouge blogger friends, our interaction changed quickly by the setting... still love them all the same!

I have been/am truly fed up with "facebook" as it appears that instead of being a tool for us = we become a tool for it *, as I felt just as "enslaved" with my new (Mac) Maxwell, my sexy, sleek Leopard as I was with "my old Singer" Windows PC (only straight and zig-zag ☺).

Anyway, anyhow, I am once more "getting things in order". The move back from Trisha's Artists Studio brought on a renewed commitment to my own need for a proper studio at home.

In short, I am left with a kitchen and a bedroom and now, I relatively large studio... which, overflows to the balcony, and I looooove it!!!

Had a small "garage sale" yesterday... (was not aware how many people I know in the building!) I had company for most of my shift...! The attempt to dispose of items of value I no longer have room for... lovely chachkas... all of them - made me take an even harder look to money going toward "things I love"... ahá!

Ayyy! Among them, a zillion frames. I did the same stupid thing 35 years ago (time flies and, oooops... I forgot, apply here!).

☛ I must remember to only buy frames when I need them. Not shown - two more boxes with smaller frames and their glass... ☞ Also must remember not to "randomly" accept frames, and glass, others want to get rid of... Life is hard!

The Galeria does actually look very pleasant, and the viewing is easy as I managed to resolve the lighting needs with what I call "boat lights" and a string of tiny holiday season lights which now run the length of the apartment. (See siderbar: Friday, MArch 13.09)

The Studio is also coming along with its very task oriented lighting - I installed a couple of fluorescent light fixtures with 2 "daylight/full spectrum" fluorescent light bulbs each... connected at the ceiling with the coolest design - yes, there is such thing - extension cord... ahhhh!

Coming along with those matters I have left the defining of Workshops to come, learning how to confidently and successfully operate and manage Maxwell to my advantage, build my website, and last but not least focus more on my blogs... AND, "live" relationships...

*There is a saying in Spanish that goes something like this: When one goes to bed with children, wakes up wet...

Meaning, that when you deal with something/someone immature one must suffer the consequences.

Women's rights have just regressed 100 years or more, courtesy of our support to the Afghani government. As of today, women need to ask their husbands for permission to leave the house, visit the doctor, and get educated... as well as not having a choice in the bedroom - no refusals allowed... by law.

People are emotionally changed, maimed and dying for this?

Now a dry and arid stretch of land some stubbornly refer to as "a country". Give it up! One more day is a day too many.

Leave the rebels revel in the dusty caves and tunnels, the entire land (if one can call it that, is unsuitable for safe and sane living.

Offer exile to those that want out; it is a far more humane, dignified, compassionate, peaceful and, ultimately, cost effective route.

I must say it was the nicest of all Events thus far. This is a tradition started over 40 years ago, when a group of members had the idea to introduce "up-and-coming" artists to the community...
And this is how, the first Sunday of each month three artists are invited to Hycroft House and made feel very special and recognized.
They keep a wondefully tasteful display case for the rest of the month, thus, this making pieces left behing accessible to the rest of membership.

I began working in mid-December on a new series. As you have observed through time I have a thing not only for photography but also for a deliciously moody sky... I dug up some of the pics and went to work.

Above is one example; posted a few on side bar at studiogaleria click. Still a work in progress, hindered by the cold and humid temperatures we have been experiencing...

Hope that I can manage the finishing steps and touch-ups by the end of the week, as I hope to hang them at the White Rock Museum and Archives Exhibit I am having from tomorrow until the end of February. This is quiet exciting!!!

Such is life, at times... Comfy, safe and nurtured cherished.

At other times life bring countless moments and passages of unsettled uncertainty and even periods of fear as choices, circumstances and changes unsettle our familial-tested, mental, emotional and possibly even physical grounds. There is no comfort, safety or nurturing to accompany us, as for the most part others around, apprehensive of their own situations shy away from the other's pain.

I've done so myself, as if keeping away paralyzed by an invisible "contagious" disease. I did not understand that no matter how close we are to one another - we are on a separate journey, most of the time.

Parallel "time zones" I'd say, where our own, private lives unfold according to our choices, fate and destinies - yes, I have come to believe that while positive thinking/feeling and prayer have also their proven energy - well, as everything else does - dah! - so does the dark/shadow forces brought forth/generated by those that act with disregard and/or ill intent... And then, there is the "collective energy"; that influences circumstances, so called "luck" that has nothing to do with what we may or not think/feel/intent!

Which brings me, to feel even more alert/compassionate/understanding/accepting of myself and those "less fortunate" as society likes to label that and those which have missed the "acceptable" mark.

Now days, that it is ever so fashionable to "be responsible" for our own destinies, that we can "manifest"/create a life in the image of our own desires, pray it better... "charity" or "giving back" that some can muster to feign - for good karma sake - a simple reality of life being a succession of flowing/diverse/intersecting energies gets lost in the mumble-jumble.

As I try to define life as "is", not as presented by religious or new age interests, I adventure farther away from the comfort zone my thoughts and feelings may rest at. Experiences, observations, sometimes (rather often lately) awaken me from the delusion that it is all well as long as a follow a prescribed line of thinking/feeling. Hah!

Those that lack comfort, safety and nurture... those that simply try to survive a day to day life in a parallel time zone we don't much care to identify and accept as part of the whole, are as much our collective doing, as are part of our collective undoing indifference.

This is the result of what happens when I come to post and I have not prepared for it... And, all I felt was wanting to share my friend's cat

City Council Elections in White Rock, BC and the meaning of "Integrity"

Well, we had an opportunity to see almost all candidates running for council on yesterday, Wednesday, November 5, 2008 issue of our own Peace Arch News... unfortunately for some reason not available on line, which brings to a screeching halt my need for mischief at this time... :)
Oh... yeah! No apologies.

Candidates were asked to submit a number of brief, specific, description of themselves and "top issues" in three words... Most of them have used "three words" some only required two, clear and precise, only one had only one word...
And by golly ... a loaded one at that: Integrity.

According to a couple of on line "up to date" sites Integrity means:
1. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrity - literally speaking.
Integrity comprises perceived consistency of actions, values, methods, measures and principles. Depth and breadth of a value system may also be significant factors due to their congruence with a wider range of observations[clarify]. A value system may evolve over time while retaining integrity if holders of that value system account for and resolve inconsistencies.

Integrity is one of the most important and oft-cited of virtue terms. It is also perhaps the most puzzling. Persons of integrity may in fact act immorally—though they would usually not know they are acting immorally. Thus one may acknowledge a person to have integrity even though that person may hold importantly mistaken moral views. Etc, etc..

I don't want to be rude, but I am sure liking now that not so polite saying... it will come back and bite you in the ass!

And, once more, in the words of the famous TV doc. "You don't only have to do the right thing, it also has to look you are doing the right thing".

I wish that I would have seen and felt, but mostly experienced Matt Todd acting with "integrity". So unfortunate, that, which could have been almost successfully resolved with a brief polite response is "coming back to bite...." a little over a year later, after some rather cumbersome, to say the least, interactions...
Perhaps, I should post those wonderfully respectful emails that followed his blog visit this summer. (Remember ?) ... after all, he was acting is his capacity as an "elected and serving" City Councilor.

The man is decidedly relentless and, rude.
I do have one question though... student?
How does he have soooo much time to participate in the various committees that he appears to be the one that is running this city?

It will obviously be a very divided and scattered vote election as we have a large number of options, even the luxury to elect an entire new Council!
Oh, wait NO! Ouch!
No options for the Mayor's seat...
What is an artist to do?

OK, there are always options; I feel I have two.
One, to vote for the one that I imagine would cause "the least damage"
Or,
The other, leave the ballot blank... yeap!
And THAT, is what I am undecided about.

This may not be as hopeful or exhilarating as the election down South, but we are sure talking about it, and talking about it ...
'Will see how that translates in the results :)

She was “vetted”, she was vetted! The machinery behind McCain and the Republican Party (tried to) assured everyone.
She was shown and paraded like pedigree cattle, her husband and children along… good American stock!
Good American values = A Real American for Real America.

Now, the election lost, she and her paraded family, including her infant Down's Syndrome child, no longer serve as example of American Family, of American Values.
She shopped too much (!) and now is described as “Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman-Marcus”. Reeeeeeeealy?
Pretty good results I’d say.
Good enough to fool herself, in her naïve ignorance (as she does not yet know what she does not know!) and millions of others in their naïve ignorance (that also don't know yet what they don't know), that she was a truly “a contender”.
I’d say l-e-t h-e-r k-e-e-p t-h-e c-l-o-t-h-e-s!!! She deserves them, if only for being used.

So, let’s continue.
She was vetted! By whom? The Veterinarian at the Pet Clinic down Wasilla’s Main Street glanced over and gave his OK? That kind of "vetting"!?

We all know I am no friend of Sarah, nor the Republican Party for that matter, but I am very much a friend of fairness.
All right, she might not deserve fairness either, after (further) instigating millions into believing that Obama had terrorist ties, was “un-American”, along with other inaccurate and malicious character assassination propaganda…
Still, it is entire possible that Sarah herself believed this… After all, Republicans did believe that Saddam Hussein was a Terrorist threat to the US and therefore, the war in Iraq was justified. And justified, and justified… while the rest of the learned world watched the development in horror.
That same learned world that failed to stop the war, that failed to stop the re-election of the Bush administration… It took the help of the hungry and under-privileged to be given a glimmer of hope to stand up and be counted, to join in the effort to return to some semblance of sanity. To bring it up to 52%. No?

Sarah Palin is now is a liability to the Party – ay Chihuahua, a little too late and futile don’t you think? After all, 45% of US citizens, “The Real Americans” (the largest numbers from, generlly speaking, the poorest and most forgotten areas of the country - or, was it the affluet that chose for them...) have voted for a ticket that named her for "Vice-President" .

I suggest that instead of pelting her, a good look be taken at the machinery that put this in motion, and I don’t mean the 21 year blogger that started it all (!) I mean the erudites that met with her and deemed her a suitable prospect, including McCain whom claimed to have “vetted” her personally – ouch!

I do believe Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is a true representative of those she was addressing, those that saw themselves reflected in her, voted for her, for them…
As it became obvious, (not soon enough to them) she is an inevitable international embarrassment, also, as a representative of a huge segment of the population, that reflects not only a hugely failed US education system, but the consequences of what a serious lack of access to diverse (and somewhat (!?) impartial) sources of information may bring forth.

Personally, I prefer to look up at my leaders.
My reflection is just that. Plain and simple.

(PS.: Too bad they failed to locate our Rick Mercer, he most likely could have put Katie Couric herself to shame ...)

Just how appropriate is it to have the Third Annual Blogblast For Peace on the heals of such history making elections?
My, my...for the first time the United States has had a truly "democratic" election, despite its cumbersome system!
This new administration sure brings hope for peace on its wings, hope for dialogue and "civilized" interaction with others around the world.
Most certainly everyone I know, along with myself, held our collective breaths until the Obama's victory was declared.
Even for me, it was a very emotional experience as whatever they do affects us all!!!

White Rock City Council Elections - "Hopefuls pitch...

I have no other way of sharing my thoughts and feelings than through my blog and occasionally, with letters to Editor - The Peace Arch News does normally publish my letters - The NOW has consistently ignored me, no matter what...! Hmmm, good thing I am not paranoid, then again... :) (Yes, I know "Octavia" on their front page... but they never gave me credit, not even after I wrote to them requesting so - you be the judge!)

We all know by now how frustrated I have been with this current Council, not necessarily for one or more of those huuuge power transgressions, but for their eroding, consistent "in your face" I don't give a damn about what the citizen's think... we'll just plow through as we please attitude!!!

Attitude, attitude, attitude: seen and heard enough of their attitude. It is high time that we, the citizens have a voice.

I propose we don't even know what we don't know about, and that, is on top of all the circulating rumors. I'm not kidding!

It is high time we stop being treated as intrusive and unwanted guests in this little private social club.

We must demand inclusion, respect, clarity and, answers and accountability - we know by now that we must take our chances with new blood.

In this case I advocate we replace the entire lot. Unfortunately, the only two Mayoralty candidates are current Councilors... a total bummer! However, with all new councilors, the "favored" one will be hopefully greatly "supervised" and scrutinized by them.

On the matter of inclusion, respect, clarity and, accountability, here goes my response to the above tittled article.

Dear Editor:
It was with a mixture of dismay and amusement that I read in "Hopefuls pitch their positions" Friday 31.08, Councillor Todd (along with Candidates Bartosh and Anschell) "was among those who said improving Arts and Culture is key to this community."
As a working artist that is part of this community (?) I like to suggest that in order to succeed in such proposition, not only all White Rock artists must be invited and somehow engaged in the process if they wished, but they and their work should be treated with respect and dignity at all times, in an open and crystal clear process where everyone is informed at all times - including the public.
Should Mr Todd be re-elected (!), I suggest an immediate reevaluation of his past procedures and attitude, beginning with duly and respectfully responding to correspondence addressed to him regarding such matters, which, he has repeatedly ignored for over a year. Something to ponder about...

To VOTE or not to VOTE

To VOTE or not to VOTE, what kind of question is that?

While I believe that we all must exercise our right to vote (as with abortion, ultra conservatives!) under certain circumstances, I feel there must be room for exceptions.

Voting is not only a right for Joe the plumber (or, Joe Canuck), that appears not to find his way around a bucket, and thousands like him, but voting, is also in the hands of some truly "innocently ignorant" folk ... and, at least one Vice-Presidential candidate in the US on the "morosely naive" side of life. Not hat we haven't got our own!

Which brings me to ponder... Is the democratic process too generous at times?
Yes, I know, this is neither politically correct nor "new age-y", both of which I am soooo tired of.
This is how I feel, and I feel I must question the wisdom of this process, actually in more ways than this one.

As it is, we are run by the minority that goes to the pols so, this questioning is not so preposterous after all. Vote by a minority; Governed by a minority. Democracy at work!

Why should anyone vote?

Really... why?

Weeks in advance we are already assured of the results by all the "five and dime" political analysts that ultimately totally distort reality - now, also available in podcast - along with the most obnoxious negative party campaigning ever...!

I don't know about you, but I found out, that I am not the only one made physically ill by all the blatant lies, attacks and character assassination.

Funny, how we fancy ourselves to live in a democracy; there is nothing democratic about an election campaign that is highly manipulated and misrepresented.

I am for making it illegal for candidates to talk about anything else than their party platform and media to only report, and refrain - muzzled, if it need be - from making any "supposedly erudite" commentary.

While people are generally not stupid - the "easy, predigested and regurgitated over and over again system at hand makes their "free will" obsolete.

So, I ask again.... why vote?

As it is, we can save a lot of money by staying home and letting the pollsters and, radio and TV personalities gather opinions and announce results way in advance - at no cost to the taxpayer.

(In the event the cartoon is "not self-explanatory", the few "grazing" sheep don't have eyes and are wearing large headphones, under obviously ominous dark clouds )

Among those dead this past year we got a bus passenger - no having paid his due fare.

The 60? million dollar funding cuts made to "Arts and Culture" is an act of unqualified ignorance. (Why I am not surprised?)

On the other hand hand Doin offers 160 million to the Arts ... and I do believe this is an honest offer, not only an intellectual opportunity grasped, but a heartfelt one!

Summer's End Review - Artist caught in strange vortex!

My second spring/summer season "officially, as an artist" has come to an end.

While last year I though I was experiencing novice's contretemps due to my prolonged absence and naivete in this new milieu, turned out to be just another "taking on the responsibility for it all" - lol

In reality - as "in actual fact" - it turns out that this little art world of ours has the serious makings of a Greek Tragedy with all its triumphs, glory, gossip, feigned indifference, sitting on the fence and, treachery it can accommodate. Well, that, aside from the truly innocent and "blissed"... :)

In one hand, the different groups and associations held their annual events showcasing the large array of dedicated hobby artists, as well as true creative talent shining through the massive amount of wonderfully executed paintings.

Our wonderful, wonderful Fine Art Galleries, which I cannot resist walking by without stopping to peek in, where I can first hand observe the "trend", also had their scheduled activities. Our one First Nations Gallery finely appointed - a pleasure and pride to have around.

Art has also moved onto the streets, adding an altogether inviting air of sophistication mixed with a je ne sais quoi, laid back sort of feeling under our warm, crisp and brilliant sun by the sea...

One would be inclined to think All is Well and flourishing in our midst ... and for some it might be, or better yet, appear to be.

On the other hand, some, thought it wise to overflow (?) the area with cheap, third world economy market, mass produced "factory originals" that appear to compete and, and might come to affect some of the local "real original talent"; I blame that on a trend that, unfortunately began sometime in the 80's, to which my beloved Interior Designers grabbed on to and made a mess of through TV shows and an utterly ridiculous "matching madness" but, that is another story altogether, for another time.

(However, in the meantime, I'd like to say, the rest of our mere mortals should turn to their local artists and dealers for all their art questions and follow their own taste, follow their instinct - even if and when it does "not match". )

The "Mural" deal... ?

2007 - "Mermaids at Play" absolutely, without a doubt, one of the un-gracious experiences ever..., as we all know, I've around for awhile!

2008 - I'll be following up and posting pics to appreciate the evolution of the now annual project; which, I hope, in the future will include the countless talented artist of our city that might be interested in participating in such an adventure.

Another experience was added this year as I answered the Artist Call from the City of Surrey... you knooow... :) it resulted in the "Octopedes" Installation - lots of fun and effective therapy, as I can truthfully say, despite the endless scratches and deadly stabs, somewhere along the way I left behind my "chicken wire fear" - lol

When all is said and done, this seasons' Artist Caught in Strange Vortex experience has once again been at times faaabuuulous but, also intensely bewildering, curios, as well as consistently foreign to me.

The longer I live, the more I appreciate recognizing "archetypes" at play. The more everything changes the more it remains the same - doesn't it? It also gets old quicker.

On the more personal (satisfaction) side of things, I feel that me and my art are moving along just fine, quiet "on schedule" I'd say, considering the 30 year gap!

My many, many, many thanks to all those cool people that touch my life with care and respect. Without you...

There is nothing like a "review" and a "Goggle search" to stir-up ones hear and soul. "Sleep over it" ... Giving ourselves time to re-cap on the previous day's thoughts, feelings and past events...

My interest and pleasure of living here, in White Rock, had been so weakened this past year by the darkness thrust upon me, moving ahead of me, blocking my way, that at times I felt like bolting form this place! Instead, I hunkered down and looked for ray of light and went in its direction!

I have to admit that all the ugliness and well placed, unmovable obstacles that forced me off "my automatic path" had, shifted me towards other, (roads less travelled with) richer possibilities and set me on a much more desirable and suitable path for myself...

Now, a few of days into the "quiet zone", having been able to gather my thoughts in the quiet and gentle sun pouring in through the windows; I do look forward with delighted excitement to the wonders to come.

Yeah... there is always a reason for everything - no matter how obscure it may be - just as the "truth", sooner or later it comes to light... aaaall this shall too.

Still Monday...

but it is 11:36PM

While I have been "interestingly" affected by what I intuit to be "active, serious misrepresentation" - those, whom ultimately I would interact with, would have to be aware that even the thinnest pancake has two sides...

I am convinced that most everyone is grossly misinformed about what, and how "things" go/went down! (And keep on going, and going and going!)

Walk the Talk, or get off the pot...

Truth, respect, fairness, compassion, integrity, ethics are "a way of life".

"Lip service" is nothing more than shallow opportunism praying on bruised egos.

It actually took all this time to come around to feel peace within myself, and realize... Ay Chihuahua! I was actually maneuvered into what resulted in a fabulous "shortcut"

WOW! Hats Off to the Democratic Convention
My goodness, I am almost "back into politics".
Missed Senator Ted Kennedy's and President Bill Clinton's speeches, will have to search for them on the net...

What a turn around this event was... Loved Senator Hillary Clinton's speach. A truly remarkable act that facilitated this epic evening and opportunity for Senator/Presidential Nominee Barack Obama's flawless speech.
I have a dream... I think we all connected to "the dream and the reality" that if one puts ones mind to it changes occur, it takes a leader with a clear vision, that has the support of its party and an eager and committed citizenry.
WOW, 45 years to the date of Martin Luther King's speech - I "feel" hope.
I am most certainly looking forward to an Administration change in the United States, which in turn will bring about - in a ripple effect - changes all over our globe.
I had favored Hillary for her strength and record and, simply because it was/is high time for a woman, for a really gentler sort of politics, a more "emotional and sensitive sort" that reaches the soul instead of only rattling bones and standing hairs on end.
Obama appears also shows the sensitivity and sensibility required to govern not only with a cool head but, also with a warm heart. Time for a "minority" rule!

Best wishes to my dear neighbours.
May we all live in peace, equality, fairness and a dignified living standard.

Reviewing Boston University's Prof. Andrew Bacevich's book "The Limits of Power" The End of American Exceptionalism, with the author; the most comprehensive, exceptional, candid review yet to come out of the United States... on the United States, its Presidency, Foreign Policy and much more...

Among others, a question not often asked - in public - "How did we come to be a nation in which we really thought that we could transform the greater Middle East with our army?" He asks and, he responds lucidly and succinctly.

Sadly, we have become a society that is so used to being trampled upon that we no longer react!

We do not recognize when we are abused.

We do not recognize when our rights are being disregarded.

We do not recognize cruelty when faced with it.

We smile and thank.... instead.

Some of us have completely lost control in our quest to survive, having become emotionless automatons disregarding the rights, needs and feelings of others.

Others, have come to simply feel "too powerless and overwhelmed" by the weight of life's dark side.

Still others, embracing the new age movement have become mesmerized by the mantras and through the belief "to let be" have become distracted from what it really means to live a full conscious, present life.

"Nice" has became the goal; leaving decency, honesty, kindness, honor, respect, integrity, compassion and other desirable peaceful, wholesome societal values behind in the dust.

In short, we have come to a state where "brute force" rules and "down to earth reason" has lost its place.

Our perception of "reality" has been distorted to the point that we readily and easily either accept blatant manipulation "as a way of life" or, worst, we pretend not to care, while the consequences to be suffered by all are, presently of great damage, while immeasurable in the long run.

I am very sad today, one of those days compared to "when innocence is lost" and the world changed to a slightly more obscure, more complex maze from where it appears not easy to find ones safe passage out...

A day of mourning, that is how it feels, and I am going to allow myself to feel the feelings.

Maybe even cry...

Yeah... I think I do that.

It appears that still, after advising Councilor Todd , of the legal consequences to come about as a result of painting over the "Mermaids at Play" mural during this weekend's Spirit of the Sea Festival - he is ploughing ahead, infringing the the Moral and Intellectual Property Rights of the Artists.
This cannot set an unacceptable precedent.
For White Rock to grow up and truly become a City, as it calls itself, it must act as one.

No more little tree fort "private" club attitude , where matters are planned and resolved as "as they go along", but respecting the rights of their citizens and acting like informed politician they ought to be.

This not about lacking the gracious spirit of cooperation on my part or about "not being or being nice", it is about Artist Rights. Period.

It is also about respect and common courtesy.

WHITE ROCK City Council Performance Flops Again!

What is with these people? It appears they are "on another planet" (instead of just an "another island"!) Everyone can see it, except them.

In this City of White Rock, whose "natural resources" are its artists, they are literally peeing on us.

I believe that, while the Wyland - Whaling wall, is on private property (the one that refused to sell out to big development and its foundation got damaged in the process... eh?) it is still, a piece of public art and as such the City has "some" responsibility. At a minimum to contribute to its maintenance.
But, as the cameras stopped rolling and a week went by, councillor Matt Todd (is it me - or is he running the city by himself?) stated to our pres that the city will not be participating - when council has clearly instructed staff through a motion to look into funds and ways to assist... So, there we go!

Not quiet in the same breath, but on the same topic of public art, I just heard through the grapevine (rumor, malicious gossip?) that our "Mermaids at Play" mural down at the East beach is slated to be "whited out" - as in "painted over" - obliterated, vanished....

Which, would explain why my letter of last September and a subsequent copy earlier this year never got as much as an acknowledgement. Copy bellow.

Is this true? Who is/are really behind this decisions? In these committees? Did "They" knew it along?

(While not a masterpiece :), it is from our community to our community. We can call it "folk" art. It brought smiles and joy to thousands of locals and tourists alike. The mermaids have gone with little girls and boys to far away places... in souvenir pics and in their imagination...)

~ * 11:30PM: I went by earlier this evening to bid farewell ... after receiving confirmation from fellow artist Nicci Battilana whom had spoken with councillor Todd - it will be painted over as it has always been the plan... hmmm!? Well... it would have been nice to be informed. Which brings me to: Why bother with the paint - we could have used chalk!

There was absolutely no need to proceed in this manner - to paint another mural over it - given the fact this building has still three white walls!

The argument presented this past week - at this late date - is a reflection of behind the scenes shenanigans. If the rules of engagement would of been layed out from the beginning to all participants, this would not have come as a surprise, but flip-flopping and delaying tactics prevailed all along making it the more "suspect". You people: It stinks!

Let's paint it over every year game... Control, control, control...

I will definitely survive this highly ignorantly handled episode, as I have already gotten over it. What I ask myself at this point is not so much what a politician and his "runner-ups" were thinking but, what kind of rationalization did the couple of "professional" artists use to make this action alright?

Dear Judy, Matt and Council Members:

It is with a mixture of joy, satisfaction, pride and gratefulness for the opportunity presented to me as an artist to contribute to our community in such endearing, playful and fulfilling manner that I turn to you with an unavoidable follow up …

My participation in the above project came about at the eleventh hour, only knowing there was a proposal, but not quiet being privy to any details or other particulars, not understanding the background of same either.

It would take me pages to detail the consistent and wonderful public response I was recipient and witness of, as I can say without hesitation that for the entire week they (spanning all ages and equally both genders) were stopping by and commenting at an average of 10 minute intervals – non stop. (Or, otherwise hollering “looking good” while driving by...).
Sheer delight for the creative soul.

But, I am sure some of it must have already reached your ears by now… Thus, greatly encouraged by such heart felt response, I feel compelled to request from you to open wide the creative flood gates of our City.

As you all know, White Rock can easily boast of having an artist behind every shrub, yet, unbelievably, there is little or no evidence to that effect!

I beg of you to nurture, encourage and support the vast talent pool of our greatest, unexploited natural resource – White Rock’s Resident Artists.

Our wonderful (potential destination) town has many a façade, side and ugly bare retaining cement walls; public, as well as private delicious nooks and crannies to be filled with joyous colourful images – let your imagination freely flow, without worries…

As a result, we will have a happier community and a most certain increase in our local economic revenue across the board as all areas are included in this vision – From Marine Drive around and up Johnston Road, Uptown as well other “unexpected” places that are now being increasingly covered with undesirable, offending graffiti …

Allow me to be the first artist to openly volunteer setting up/consulting with Council in this venture/adventure, as I am sure other working/hands-on artists will sure follow with interest and commitment to translate a common goal/vision into images.
None better than such group to be involved in the unfolding of a unique, long lasting and on-going beautification/economic plan.

A healthy city is one that acknowledges and actively embraces its rich diversity, making good use of it’s gifts and those that offer to contribute to the common well being to the best of their abilities.

The opportunity to proceed with an open and fair call, involving all those whom desire to participate
is here and now. Do not delay.

As stated above, never got a response, not even an acknowledgement, although letters were originally hand delivered to City Hall and subsequently earlier this year I went by personally, at which time the Mayor's secretary herself asked me to email it to her.

This shows me, that for some reason these matters are taken as personal choice. This City must take time to introduce a protocol to follow when it is addressed. This is not a little unsophisticated sleepy town by any long shot. Or, is it? In any event, small mindedness has no room in it anymore!

I thought I could resist commenting.... :)

After little thinking I arrived at the following few conclusions:
1. "The Island of White Rock" makes perfect sense, since its all a matter of perception (obviously, Council must feel on an idyllic island, detached...).
2. Some of us still believe if we pay for it, it must actually be worth somethin'.

3. I could myself (again?) suggest, for free: "Shake a shrub, find an artist!"

... On the topic of "creative thinking", shamed MLA, and "dead in the water" Spirit Square project...
I wonder if the shrubs would have been shaken and a handful of artists would have fallen out ...
Could one of them, in a brain storming session, in this city of mermaids, located on this lovely and cozy bay, would have suggested an idea good enough to float around to the liking and, compromise of everyone?

(While my letter was not published, the ones that were, were absolutely brilliant - worth digging through the archives :) )

What makes this statement a bit of an odd take is perhaps if they would "leave the island" and experience "the wide world" they might develop somewhat of a "cultured" vision and attitude...

But then again, why bother, we have elections coming up in November - not a moment too soon!

My suspicions were confirmed when Councillor Mat Todd confessed to our local press Council actually felt White Rock as an Island...

I am not sure that telling you - yes YOU - as in any of you my dear friends, that I actually think of each and every single one of you very often, you will probably not believe me. BUT, it IS so.......

Oh, things have changed a lot; aside from being a year older and slowing down somewhat - a little more each year, it seems, and the more focused I have become with my painting and jewelry design and, all the research that I am conducting related to one or the other, leaves me with little time to "spare on sweet indulgences"
All my other reading happens in the WC or the bedroom - lol! The only times I manage to "multi-task", which, I have recently learned, is about all the so-called multi-tasking all other delusional mortals are capable of. What a relief - I thought there was something seriously wrong with me! lol
Yeah........ just teasing.
Working gives me a great deal of peace as well as pleasure - it appears that I have finally "converged" with my life's purpose...
Lots of love and hugs to one and all!

I will add to it one more little piece that my heart is calling for...

I did not realize just how sporadic and "sad" this blog has become...
Not many choices - either a greeting or a post "in memoriam" of someone I admired and we lost ... It all started with my reminiscing about La Callas and then Pavarotti died..... and, ahhhhhh

So, to somewhat remedy the situation I will revert to a happier, warmer times - lol
